The Extract and Append Utility is great for a head office to be able to enter diamonds to its inventory and then transfer it to a remote location for selling it. This way, using the ExtractAppend application, one can transfer inventory from one database to another in a remote location. All you need to do is to enter new inventory on Server1 and then transfer this inventory to Server2 at the other location. For this setup to work, you need to an FTP server and connect it with a firewall to a permanent IP address (not dial up). From the Server1 at the source, you extract newly entered stock by selecting the diamonds to transfer specifying a date range of the date they were entered. Then, immediately after, from the destination PC (Server2), the user loads the ExtractAppend app and downloads the data from the source. Once the data becomes local, it can be appened to the existing stock.
NOTES: None of the other information (such as receivables, payables or retail transactions) is being transfered from the main office.
