The main menu screen is the first page you will see when entering DiamondStat.
There is a small box in the center of the screen. In the left cell is the name of the program, DiamondStat, followed by the version of DiamondStat that you are using.
The right portion of the box gives you menu options of which area of DiamondStat you would like to use. For more information about these options, see the sections on Pre-defined DiamondStat Information Views, and Custom Control/Make New Views.
When you view statistics from the Main Control Menu or the Main View Menu, the resulting information will be shown in the statistics window.
The heading for the statistics window consists of two parts: the general heading and the column heading.
The general heading is at the very top of the page, and spans the full width of all columns shown. It displays the carat size and shape for the statistics being shown, and features the "Save As…" link.
A column heading appears above each column of tables and displays the time period the tables represent.
Each statistics table has a title that says what the table displays: On Hand, Retail Sales, Wholesale Sales and Total Sales. The table rows and columns are labeled with the clarities and colors within them. So, if a cell is in column "I, J, K" and row "IF, VVS1, VVS2", that cell will show the total number of stones with color I - J and clarity IF to VVS2.
When more than one color or clarity is shown for a cell, clicking on the cell will show you and breakdown of the colors and clarities for that cell. So, if a cell is in column "I, J, K" and row "IF, VVS1, VVS2", clicking on the cell will bring up a table whose rows are IF, VVS1 and VVS2, and whose columns are I, J, and K.
The Pre-defined DiamondStat Information Views area, or preset area, allows you to select from 'views' of information that are pre-filtered statistics to show you only specific information. For example, one view might be labeled "1st Quarter Sales 2001, Round Brilliant". Such a view would show exactly what it sounds like: the 1st quarter 2001 sales of round diamonds.

The login screen for the preset area asks you for a username and password. The administrator should provide you with the username and password - called a login - you are to use. Enter your login in the spaces provided and click 'Log in'. You should now be logged in to DiamondStat and looking at the Main View Menu.
The Main View Menu allows you to select which set of statistical information you'd like to see. To use the Main View Menu, set each option to your desired setting, and click the 'Submit' button, located to the left.
The view pull-down menu will give you a list of views to choose from. To choose one, select it from the menu, then click the 'Submit' button. The view you have selected should then be displayed in the upper portion of the window. Be patient, depending on the size of the diamond database you are using and how much information is shown by the view, it may take some time to display the view.
Some views do not allow you to alter the shape, size and highlight tolerance. Such views are called locked views. If the view is locked, any selections you have set on the menu will not take effect. On many browsers, include Internet Explorers 5 and Netscape 6, these controls will be disabled and grayed out if the view currently selected on the menu is locked. Even if the gray-out is not supported in your browser, settings you make with a locked view will be ignored by DiamondStat.
If a view is not locked, the shape, size and highlight tolerance controls will be active and settings you make with them will be applied to the view you select.
Limit the statistics shown to only include lots of the specified shape. Select you desired shape from the pull-down menu. To see data for all shapes, leave this set to "All Shapes".
You can limit the statistics to include only lots whose average size falls within the range you specify. To set this range, enter the maximum and minimum sizes you would like to include, in carats.
DiamondStat automatically compares the sales totals table to the on hand table, and highlights values in the
on hand table that are higher or lower than the sales. When two time periods are selected for comparison,
the sales for the second time period, displayed to the right, are compared to the sales for the first time
period in the same manner.
The highlight tolerance controls how far apart two numbers can be before one is highlighted. So, the larger a highlight tolerance you set, the fewer things will be highlighted.
This area of DiamondStat allows you full control over what information you see, including statistics for lots currently on hand, and past retail and wholesale sales from any time period of time. From this area you can also define what information others may see about your stock and sales, if any.
To provide maximum security for your data, the login process for the Custom Control area of DiamondStat is controlled by the web server. When you enter this area, your browser should display a form asking you for your username and password. After you submit this form with the correct information, you will be authenticated by the server and have full access to DiamondStat. For further information on logins and authentication, see the documentation for your web browser.
With the Main Control Menu you can use all available settings to get statistics about your sales and current stock. To use the Main Control Menu, set each option to your desired setting, and click the 'Submit' button, located to the left.
To see sales within a certain time period, selected the starting and ending months of the time period, and the year in which the time period should begin. So, if you select Oct to Dec, year 2000; you will see statistics for Oct 2000 to Dec 2000. If you select Oct to Jan, year 2000; you will see statistics for Oct 2000 to Jan 2001.
You can compare sales during two different time periods with the date comparison feature. To enable comparison, check the box labeled "Compare with sales between". Then, set the time period for comparison in the same manner as the first time period.
When you are comparing sales from two time periods, the values in the table(s) for the second time period, located in the right-hand column, will be compared to those in the left column. Any values the are significantly high or low will be highlighted, making the differences between the time periods easy to see.
By checking the boxes beside each, you can see statistics tables for retail sales, wholesale sales, and total sales of wholesale and retail.

When you save a view, you can give others limited access to view it. That way, you control exactly what who can see what on your system.

Enter the Title you want to give the view. This will become the name it is known by when someone is Selecting a View.
To control who can see this view, select them from the pull-down menu labeled "Give Access to". If you do not select anything from this menu, no one without administrative access will be able to see the view.
If you only want to limit the time period, and want other to be able to set the size and shape themselves, check the box beside "Allow viewer to change Shape, Size and Highlight Tolerance values".
Finally, click on the button labeled "Save View". The view will be saved, and a confirmation page will be shown displaying information about the view you just saved.
